Thaína Silva – Introduction

Preta Ferreira

Preta is a multi-artist, an innate and trained communicator. Awarded in 2020 at the Gramado Festival for her performance in Recipe of crab, Preta also acted and sang in the award-winning Where fly the witches by Filmmaker Eliane Caffé who started her partnership with Preta in the also awarded Era Hotel Cambridge, Preta acted in the recent film (still untitled) by Juliana Rojas and has participated in series and other films. She is the eldest of eight siblings.

As a teenager, she came from Bahia to São Paulo and, from an early age, worked to help supplement the family income. Graduated in advertising, she consolidated her career in cultural production. She is also the author and performer of the single and book Minha Carne (My Meat). Her mission is “to transform the world, for cultural and economic development, starting from small groups, with the promotion of peace and social justice”, she points out. At Occupation 9 de Julho, Preta organizes cultural and socio-educational events, from academics, laboratories, workshops, concerts, and health and leisure activities. Logline Multiartist, penal abolitionist, activist for the right to housing at MSTC (homeless movement).

Julie Dorrico

She belongs to the Macuxi people. PhD in Theory of Literature at PUCRS (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul). Master in Literary Studies and degree in Portuguese Literature from UNIRP (University Centre of Rio Preto).

She is a poet, writer, speaker, researcher of indigenous literature.

She won the 2019 Tamoios / FNLIJ/UKA (National Children's and Youth Book Foundation) competition for New Indigenous Writers in 1st place. Profile administrator @leiamulheresindigenas on Instagram.

Curator of the 1st Exhibition of Indigenous Literature at the Museum of Indian (UFU/Federal University of Uberlândia.).

Author of the work “Eu sou macuxi e outras histórias” (Caos e Letras, 2019).

Lumumba

Black male, 42 years old, self-taught plastic artist. Great-grandson of Congolese and indigenous of the Puri-Guarani ethnic group. He began his career in 2001 painting orixás in jute and shortly after began to sculpt.

He had his first solo exhibition in 2018 after an immersion in the indigenous culture of the Xingu. In 2020 he sculpted the Monument to Thebes and in 2021 he participated in the MAR 360 event (Museum of Street Art). His main influences today are Basquiat, Ordalina Cândido, among others, original African and Amerindian art.

Marcelo Tupinamba

Doctoral candidate in the Graduate Program in Music at UNESP (Paulista State University). He studied History at PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo). He is the author of the dissertation (The meaning of the musical work) of Marcello Tupynambá in Brazilian music,by ECA-USP (School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo), on the work of his great-grandfather and has been developing, since 2005, research related to historical musical collections.

He is the Cultural Program Coordinator at the House Mário de Andrade museum and producer of the CD ão Paulo Futuro, the music of Marcello Tupynambá, released in 2020.

Dandara's Samba

Dandara's Samba is a samba of empowerment and exaltation of samba women, great composers, great performers, samba warriors. The concept of Dandara's Samba carries the weight and inspiration of Dandara, a black woman, warrior and historical reference in the fight against enslavement.

Carrying this mark means praising and promoting female and black resistance in the form of a musical representation that walks through Afro-Brazilian rhythms, especially samba in its various aspects – ijexás, afoxés, candomblé and umbanda points.

Founded in 2012, the band proposes debates on ancestry and female protagonism in samba and society.

Jaíra Potï

Activist and cultural manager. Postgraduate in Content Management in Communication from the Methodist University of São Paulo.

She organized the 2nd chapter of the book Teatro e vida pública: o fomento e os coletivos teatrais de São Paulo (Theater and public life: the promotion and theater collectives of São Paulo) (Hucitec publisher, 2012).

She is responsible for the Executive Direction of CPBrazil.

Maíra da Rosa

Black cisgender woman, daughter of Oxum, iyawo from Ilê Axé Oju Oya/SP, educator, singer, vocalist of the band Samba de Dandara, graduated in Letters from PUC SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo), Master in Education: Curriculum from PUC SP, educator of Technologies Y Arts at Sesc São Paulo.

Ditão

Benedito, known as Ditão, is a farmer and leader of the Quilombo de Ivaporunduva, in addition to working with tourism in the region of Eldorado/SP.

He is a national leader and works in quilombola social organizations.

He came from a family of slave descent. Ditão learned about his culture differently, as he experienced it through contact with older relatives. However, this culture also underwent transformation, and today Ditão struggles to revive and value the memory, cultural heritage left by other generations.

Aline Chermoula

She is a chef, professor, and researcher of Aphrodiasporic ancestral cuisine, chef owner of Chermoula Culture Culinary, professor at Gastromotiva, columnist at Vogue Brazil and at Site Mundo Negro.

She has worked with food for 21 years and has researched African-American culture for 13 years. His struggle is for the appreciation of the contribution of the culinary culture of blacks in the formation of Brazilian cuisine.

Giselda Perê

She has a master's degree in art/education from the Institute of Arts of Unesp (Paulista State University), an artist and educator for over 20 years, dedicated to artistic creation that values the wisdom, aesthetics, and orality present in our African and Afro-Brazilian ancestry.

In education, he has worked in the classroom for more than 10 years, and 12 years ago he founded Agbalá Conta and with it, she dedicates herself to creation in the art of narrative, to the training of artists and teachers who seek to decolonize thought, and investigate new epistemologies based on traditional black African and Brazilian cultures.

She is an actress at Clã do Jabuti, and artistic director at Cia Quatro Ventos. 

Glaucea Helena de Britto

She is an assistant curator at the São Paulo Art Museum Assis Chateaubriand (MASP) and trainer at the Education Centre for Ethnic-Racial Relations of the Municipal Department of Education (NEER/SME-SP - Education Center for Ethnic – Racial Relations).

She is a Master's student at the Inter-Unit Graduate Program in Aesthetics, and Art History at the University of São Paulo (PGEHA-USP - Interunit Graduate Program in Aesthetics and Art History at the University of São Paulo) and has a certificate in Afro-Latin American Studies from Harvard University.

Rodrigo Marinho

Rodrigo Marinho Rodrigues da Silva, 34 years old, quilombola from the quilombo Ivaporunduva region of the ribeira valley, municipality of Eldorado/SP. Born raised in the community at age 16, he joined the Remaining Quilombo Association of district Ivaporunduva as a contributing member, where he is still a member, he has always had an active role in the quilombo contributing to community activities, triggering the role of local leadership.

Graduated in Technologist in Public Management at Metodista from São Paulo, I took another course of University Extension of Basic Formation of Local Development by – UNICAMP (Campinas State University) dedicating myself to acquire knowledge in this period doing several courses.

Dessa Ferreira – Musical performance

She is a music producer, songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, art educator, dedicated to the language of drums and the musical production of black, indigenous and LGBTQIAP+ people. Dessa is the daughter of piauienses, was born and raised on the outskirts of the DF, and has lived in RS since 2014, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in POPULAR MUSIC from UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul).

Dessa is one of the founders of the Três Marias group and Ngoma (socio-cultural project), in addition to being the conductor and creator of the collective of black women and indigenous percussionists – Pretambor.On 25th July 2020, she released her first single and copyright clip 'Pulso' independently, in 2021 he received the award for best state video clip by the II Festival Cinema Negro em Ação.

Also in 2021, she released another single, 'Ira de Euê', which is part of the LGBTQIA+ collection of the Cores do Sul project with support from the Aldir Blanc Law. For 2022-2023 there is a release date, three music videos of tracks from his first authorial album and three Lives/Podcast s, to be made available on Youtube and Spotify, with funding from Natura Musical, for the Rio Grande State Cultural Incentive Law. (LIC).

Itamiri

She is a morubixaba in Village Tabaçu Reko Ypy, of which she is also a founder, bringing to the village a commitment to maintaining Nhandereko and Indigenous Love, within the community experience.

Teacher at the state public network, trained as a pedagogue at USP (University of Sao Paulo), she also teaches the Tupi-Guarani language to children, youth, and adults. An actress and singer, she has used theater and music as education tools since before her training in pedagogy. A cultural producer and researcher, she collectively organizes events in her community.

Auá Mendes

Indigenous of the Mura People, Artist, Manauara from Amazonas, graduated in Graphic Design Technology from the Metropolitan College of Manaus – FAMETRO is currently a Professional Master's Student in Design from the Federal University of Amazonas – UFAM.

Graphic designer, illustrator, graffiti artist, performer, artistic makeup artist and experimental photographer, works as a freelancer and has already developed projects for Nu Bank, Feira Preta, Tomie Ohtake, PerifaCON, Vivo, MAM, Instituto Goeth Indonesia and others.

Edgar Kanaykõ Xakriabá

It belongs to the Xakriabá indigenous people, State of Minas Gerais. He has a master's degree in Anthropology from UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais). Has free acting in the area of Ethnophotography: “um meio de registrar aspecto da cultura – a vida de um povo” (a means of recording an aspect of culture – the life of a people). In his lens, photography becomes a new “tool” of struggle.

Juão Nyn

He is a multi-artist, acting in performance, theater, film and music. Potyguar(a), 32 years old, communicator activist of the Indigenous movement of RN by APIRN, member of the Estopô Balaio Collective of Creation, Memory and Narrative, of Cia. de Arte Teatro Interrompido and vocalist/composer of the band Androyde Sem Par.

Graduated in Theater Degree from UFRN (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte), he has been in transit between RN and SP for 7 years. In 2020, he released the 1st book, a dramaturgy entitled TYBYRA – Uma Tragedia Indígena Brasileira.

Kaê Guajajara – Musical performance

She is an indigenous activist, MPO (Popular Original Music) engaging, and uses her voice to raise awareness of the existence and struggle of indigenous peoples. With his anti-racist art, she breaks into schools, business, institutions, denouncing all the violence that indigenous people experience.

In this performance, she is accompanied by Kandu Puri, who, in addition to being a poet, he is also a rapper and artisan of the Puri people and shares some songs with Kae at the shows.
